I am not an atheist. However, I call myself agnostic. I don’t believe in God as it is depicted by humans in any religions, I think the thing/ concept, any way you want, it’s too profound, too complex, too absolute for any brain, heart or soul to grasp. As many Romanians, I was raised to believe in the Christian God and due to the specific culture and educational system, I know the orthodox traditions, prayers, rules, and stories by heart. I don’t believe in that God, I don’t believe in any god at all. Or I do, but it is more like a set of personal gods, but that is a different matter. The point is that I do believe in something, and I don’t think there is someone out there that does not believe in anything.

Nietzsche said that God is dead. Yes and no. The modern society is made intentionally in such manner that God doesn’t fit anymore (by God I mean our ancient values and myths). For example, think about the 7 deadly sins and how the modern world encourages us to commit them (it’s all marketing, baby).

So, what happened with God? We didn’t kill it, we would be eternally doomed for that since our myths gave us meaning, and life is all about pain and sense make it bearable. We shunted Him by the reason of disappointing us for centuries. He, The Almighty, The All-Powerful failed to accomplish his promises of prosperity and happiness that he made to us, generation after generation. His sons and daughters disillusioned by their father decided they didn’t need him anymore and start believing more in themselves and their potential. When men obtained the power of gods (the nuclear weapon and all the modern technologies in general) they started casting away all deities, not only the Christian one. It all became a one men show. As grandiose as it may sound to some, for me is terrifying. The thing that we are responsible for what we do more than ever, the thing that we are alone here and we have to deal with our problems alone… horror. We became orphans by our own choice and now we must assume the consequences.

Writer with the soul of a poet. I'm trying not to take myself too serious. Deeply grateful that I can share my thoughts & emotions with you.
